chanting reached a crescendo as the woman on the altar moaned, her<br />
enormous belly taut as her muscles contracted.  Her water broke<br />
suddenly, drenching the bound couple beneath her spread legs.  The<br />
attending priestesses helped her to rise to squat over the couple,<br />
standing on the spread legs of the altar sculpture.  Another<br />
contraction, and more fluids washed over the terrified pair below as<br />
they averted their eyes from the gaping birth canal above them.<br />
